SINGAPORE: Apple fans in Singapore queued up at stores as early as Thursday afternoon to get their hands on the new iPad, released Friday morning. Singapore was among the first 10 countries to get hold of the new iPad, the third generation of its category. Queues started forming outside M1's outlet at Paragon as early as 1pm on Thursday. The crowds were allowed into the building as the night wore on. Some entertained themselves using their current iPads. And at the stroke of midnight, a family became the first to get their hands on the new iPad. Over at the EpiCentre at Wheelock Palce on Friday morning, a group of friends were the first in line. They spent the night at a nearby cafe before starting to queue at about 4am. Reuben Tan, a polytechnic student, said: "This is going to be my first iPad. I think it's going to be useful for my polytechnic studies." An Apple fan, Ryan Chan, said: "I think what excites me more is the new retina display, I think it looks quite good." Ce! dric Goh said: "I expected the queue to be a bit longer, so I'm quite surprised it's so short. But it's good that it's short." Some fans said it's hard to tell the difference between the newest iPad and the earlier version. But for die-hard fans, there's nothing like getting their hands on the latest gadget from the digital tech giant. www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1189406/1/.html
